AWA Vienna

The Situation

Since its inception in 1924, the American Women’s Association (AWA) has been focused on creating a community of goodwill and friendship among women residing in Vienna, Austria and prides itself on creating a welcoming environment for women of all nationalities and ages.

In an effort to bring the association's membership online, AWA Vienna sought to update its digital presence to provide an approachable online venue for new and current members to engage with both the association and other members. As a mostly volunteer organization, it also wanted streamline workflow and content management as much as possible, as well as uncover new avenues of revenue.

The Strategy

Working closely with the Board of Directors, we set forth laying the foundation for a modern, approachable web presence that would appeal to a diverse group of women, while keeping in mind the association's modest resources.

The Results

The new AWA website offers visitors an engaging, educational and welcoming experience. The site boasts a fresh, modern design, while also providing ample opportunities for online sponsorship. We also developed the Life in Vienna blog to build a better sense of community and provide an avenue to share expat advice, introduce new members, and promote community events. To ensure the blog’s success, we created a content calendar and content workflow to drive consistency and quality, while easing the management process for internal volunteers.
